Khaberni - Irbid Governor Radwan Al-Atoum said on Sunday evening that the residents of a building evacuated in Irbid were reinstated on the condition that additional construction on the roof, which poses a risk to the building, be removed, following a recommendation from the National Building Council.

Al-Atoum had decided to preemptively evacuate a two-story residential building in the Irbid camp after receiving reports from residents about cracks that could pose a danger to the lives of the occupants.

Al-Atoum stated in remarks to the "Kingdom" channel that he inspected the site and assessed the situation, requested the National Building Council committee and the Public Health and Safety Committee to technically examine the building's condition, and raise the appropriate recommendations. He indicated that the evacuation decision will remain in effect until a decision is issued from the competent committee regarding the building's safety, and whether maintenance can be performed while the residents remain or if the evacuation must continue.

Irbid Governorate witnessed a residential building collapse days ago on Baghdad Street; this incident opened the door for citizens to report any dangers in buildings as the operations room received several reports of houses showing cracks, which were inspected by the specialized committees, and technical recommendations were written for each case.

The Governor of Irbid urged citizens to regularly inspect their homes, especially old buildings, watch for any cracks or water leaks that may affect the foundations of the buildings, and the necessity of conducting periodic maintenance and immediate reporting of any observations or cracks to preserve public safety.
