Lighting of the House of Representatives building sparks controversy on Independence Day

Khaberni - The Jordanian House of Representatives building was lit up in red, white, and green on Thursday evening, celebrating the seventy-ninth anniversary of the kingdom's independence.

The lighting, which was part of the Independence Day celebrations, sparked widespread interaction on social media, where a number of followers noticed that the colors used resembled the flag of Italy, particularly due to the absence of the black color and the seven-pointed star that are distinctive of the official Jordanian flag.

Opinions on social media were divided; one group considered that the lighting represented an incomplete celebration of the national sovereignty symbol and should adhere fully to the Jordanian flag, while the other group saw the lighting as merely a symbolic visual expression not intended for comparison, but rather a celebratory form in a dramatic and impactful manner.

The House of Representatives has not yet issued an official comment regarding the controversy surrounding the lighting arrangement.
