Sweida governor Mustafa Al-Bakour submitted his resignation last Friday, and it is up to President Ahmad Al-Shar'a to approve or reject the resignation request, according to Syrian sources in Damascus.

Al-Bakour's resignation comes after the assault that occurred to him by gunmen last Wednesday, inside his office in the governorate building.
Sweida province in southern Syria witnessed a significant security deployment in front of the government departments in the province.
Local media sources in Sweida province, southern Syria, reported that "reinforcements for local factions were deployed in front of the Criminal Security branch in Sweida, in preparation for their spread in front of various governmental institutions, with the aim of supporting the activation of the judicial police", according to a declaration by the local factions.

The sources added: "The deployment of the factions comes in response to the call of the sheikhdom of reason, and the references of the province to support the role of the judicial officer and the police institutions, implementing the latest agreement on the first of May (May) this year, to activate the police from the sons of the province to enforce the law".
