Social media sites have been buzzing in recent days with news of the death of the esteemed Syrian actress Mona Wassef, who is 83 years old.
Following the spread of the death news on social media, the Syrian newspaper "Al-Watan" confirmed that "the esteemed Syrian actress Mona Wassef is perfectly fine and is leading her life normally," emphasizing that "the news of her death is completely false."
The actress herself denied these reports during a call with "ET Arabic," expressing her annoyance at these rumors.
Mona Wassef confirmed that she is in excellent health and enjoying good health, adding: "That's enough.. Enough, perhaps because I'm slightly ill and have a cold, they considered me dead," referring to her suffering from a minor health issue that should not cause concern.
Wassef explained that she received many calls from friends and relatives checking on her condition, expressing her annoyance at the situation, especially since some family members, including her son, reside outside Syria and these rumors could cause them distress and emotional impact.
It is worth mentioning that Mona Wassef's most recent work was her participation in the series "Layali Roxy" during the Ramadan season of 2025, a Levantine drama that recounts the story of producing the first Syrian cinematic film.
