Tell me - This morning, the United Kingdom witnessed a horrific accident after a passenger train collided with a tractor and trailer at a railway crossing near "Nordan" farm in the Leominster area of Herefordshire, resulting in 17 injuries.
According to media reports, the train traveling from Manchester to Cardiff was on its usual track when the collision occurred at exactly 10:45 AM.
According to emergency services, they were called to the site minutes after the collision on the railway tracks.
The injuries varied from minor to severe, where one man was airlifted to the hospital, while a woman was given road assistance. Additionally, 15 other passengers on board the train were examined at the site and were allowed to leave after ensuring their safety.
At the site, police, ambulance and fire service teams were present, alongside personnel from the railway authority "Network Rail".
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire Services confirmed that the train consisted of five carriages and was carrying 66 passengers at the time of the accident, confirming no fire erupted and the train did not derail.
For its part, the British Transport Police announced that they received a report at 10:40 AM about the collision, and that investigations are still ongoing to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident. A 32-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with the incident.
Due to the accident, train movement was completely halted in the area, where alternative transportation means via roads were provided. It's expected that the disruption will continue until the evening hours, according to a statement by the Welsh transport company "Transport for Wales".
