From a Toy to a Cake.. Labubu Continues to Sweep the Global Trend
Khaberni -

Khbarini - The Labubu toy has transformed from just a collectible doll into a cultural phenomenon that has swept the world, even reaching the world of confectioneries, where it recently appeared in the form of a cake used in birthdays and special occasions.

In a video that garnered over 13 million views on Instagram, chef Zeina Itani revealed how to transform the Labubu doll into a six-color cake, flavored with chocolate and vanilla.

She commented: "The toy that drove the world crazy.. has come to me to make customer birthdays in the form of the toy."

The Labubu doll is part of "The Monsters" series, designed by artist Kasing Lung, inspired by a dwarf character in Norse mythology, and is characterized by its amusing shape, pointed ears, and mysterious smile.

These dolls have become a symbol of the younger generation, thanks to their unique design and the selling mechanism that increases the element of surprise, as Labubu is sold in random boxes (Blind Boxes) where the buyer does not know which version they will get, which has added a thrilling aspect and made the search for rare editions an obsession among fans.

Despite the proliferation of counterfeit products, Labubu enthusiasts know that the original versions are only available at official Pop Mart stores or through platforms like Amazon, with prices ranging from $13 for basic editions to over $1500 for rare editions.

In contrast, the markets have seen chaos due to the high demand, where Pop Mart announced the temporary suspension of Labubu doll sales in the United Kingdom after incidents of stampeding and assaults in waiting lines.

The limited release at the Pop Toy Show in Singapore also caused chaos and stampeding, prompting police intervention and the cancellation of subsequent sales.
