According to "Science Daily," this technology represents a much better way of predicting the course of treatment compared to imaging techniques and other clinical markers and analyses available two months after starting treatment.

The research team from Johns Hopkins University pointed out another advantage of this technique, which is its simplicity and the possibility of widespread application.

Time is a crucial factor
Time is a crucial factor in the treatment of pancreatic cancer patients, as Dr. Victor E. Velculescu, the principal investigator in the study, explained: "Many pancreatic cancer patients are diagnosed at a late stage when the cancer develops rapidly."

He added: "Providing more promising treatment options for patients is crucial, especially with the increasing number of experimental treatments available for pancreatic cancer."

Moving to another treatment
He continued: "We want to know as quickly as possible whether the treatment is helping the patient or not. If it is not effective, we want to be able to move to another treatment."

Currently, doctors use imaging tools to monitor the response to cancer treatment and tumor progression. However, these tools may not provide timely results and are less accurate for patients receiving immunotherapies, which can complicate the interpretation of the results.
