Real Madrid captain, Croatian Luka Modric, announced his departure from Real Madrid, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most successful signings in the club's history, having joined it in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur for 35 million euros, while the London club had contracted him from Dinamo Zagreb for 22.5 million euros.
Modric's career with Real Madrid culminated in 28 titles, including 6 Champions League titles, in addition to winning the Ballon d'Or, making him one of the most prominent players in the club's history in terms of performance and contribution.
In the investment aspect, Modric established a company named “Modric Family SL” on October 20, 2020, which specializes in the real estate field, and its activities include buying, developing, building, renovating, renting, and managing real estate properties, including non-financial real estate leasing.
Luka runs the company alongside his wife Vanja, managing multiple real estate assets in the Spanish capital Madrid, including lands, residential apartments, and parking lots.
In his autobiography, Modric expressed his deep gratitude to his wife, saying "She sacrificed everything for us. This extraordinary woman, in every sense of the word, is everything in my life. Without her presence since I was 19, we would not have reached what we are today."
He is also one of the prominent ambassadors of Nike, the official supplier of the Croatian national team kits, which was led by Modric as captain during the most successful periods of the team's recent history.
Luka will continue with his national team, with a major goal of participating in the 2026 World Cup, which will be his fifth.
Until then, he will continue his sports career at another club for another year; he will leave Real Madrid after the FIFA Club World Cup that will be held from June 14 to July 13, as Modric himself revealed on his social media.
He wrote, "The time has come. The moment I never wanted to arrive, but it's the nature of life and football. This Saturday, I will play my last match at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium."
He added, "I arrived in 2012 with a dream to wear the shirt of the greatest club in the world, and a fierce desire to achieve accomplishments, but what happened exceeded all my expectations. Playing for Real Madrid changed my life as a player and as a person, and I feel great pride to have been part of one of the most successful periods in the history of this prestigious club."
Modric sent a heartfelt thanks to the club and its president Florentino Perez, and all the colleagues and coaches he has worked with, saying, "I have lived unforgettable moments, fantastic comebacks, finals, joys, and magical nights at the Bernabeu.. We won everything, and I was very happy, extremely happy."
He concluded his message by saying, "But above all, I will always carry in my heart the love of Real Madrid fans. I cannot find the words to describe the depth of the relationship that binds me with you, and the great support I have received from you, and still feel to this day."
