Khبرini - American actor Michael Alaimo has passed away at the age of 86, after a long career during which he contributed to various fields of cinema, television, and theater.
Michael Alaimo had a prominent presence among the audience following his works, especially through his roles in movies and series that carved their place in artistic memory.
His daughter, Gabriella Alaimo Thomas, confirmed the news of her father's death in a statement to "Variety" magazine, noting that he died "peacefully," without disclosing the cause, merely pointing to his quiet departure.
Michael Alaimo continued working in the arts until his later years, maintaining his presence in the artistic scene until he began his gradual retirement, thereby ending a long journey that took him between the stages of theater, television screens, and cinema.
Alaimo was famous for his diverse roles ranging from comedy to drama, with one of his most notable appearances being in the movie "Space Jam" as a doctor, where he starred alongside luminaries such as Michael Jordan, Bill Murray, and Wayne Knight.
He also participated in movies such as "The China Syndrome" and "All I Want for Christmas," in addition to a number of famous series, including "Cheers," "The Wonder Years," "Hill Street Blues," "Scrubs," and "Off Their Rockers."
Alaimo began his artistic journey by studying theater at Brooklyn College and participated in theatrical shows in the early 1960s, including "New York Shakespeare in Central Park" under the direction of Joseph Papp. He also joined the politically oriented "Gut Theater" troupe in East Harlem, which contributed to shaping his early artistic identity.
Alaimo participated in the "FTA" troupe, which organized theatrical tours protesting against the war. In 1973, he moved to Los Angeles, where he opened a new door in his career through various roles in television series like "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "Cannon."
