The sources reported that the Artist of the Arabs had been receiving regular chemotherapy treatments in the French capital, Paris, involving an injection every three months, then entered the second phase of treatment in August 2024, until symptoms of complications began to appear again, which necessitated the recommendation to treat him at home, forbidding him from any physical effort or artistic activity until his health stabilizes.
Due to the deterioration of his health condition, Mohammed Abdu apologized for performing all his scheduled concerts this May, as his doctors have obligated him to complete rest, emphasizing the need to avoid any physical or psychological stress during the treatment period.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in men, typically starting in the prostate gland located below the bladder and responsible for producing seminal fluid. The severity of the disease varies from one case to another; it may be slow-growing and not pose a significant risk in its early stages, but some other types can be more aggressive and spread quickly to other parts of the body.
The treatment depends on several factors, including the patient's age and how far the cancer has spread, and options include: radiation therapy, hormone therapy, surgery, or chemotherapy, as in the case of Mohammed Abdu, who is undergoing an advanced treatment plan similar in some respects to what former U.S. President Joe Biden, who previously announced his diagnosis with the same disease and receiving immediate treatment for it, underwent.
Although Mohammed Abdu's family was initially secretive about his condition, the information that leaked was sufficient to cause widespread concern in the artistic community, especially since the artist's absence from his concerts is a rare indicator of his health deterioration, given his long commitment to artistic presence even in the toughest circumstances.
