Khaberni – Hela El Sheikh Rouho, the Regional Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), stated that the corporation's investment portfolio in Jordan has grown to exceed 500 million US dollars, distributed across 26 projects.
In a post on her “LinkedIn” account, which was re-shared by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation on their pages, Hela talked about the corporation meeting with business leaders and key government partners in Jordan this week to explore ways to support job creation, stimulate investment, and address pressing challenges such as water scarcity.
Hela pointed out that during the meeting with the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, and the Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Al-Saud, the corporation confirmed its ongoing support for the water sector in Jordan, given the critical water crisis facing the country, and its firm commitment to integrating public and private sector resources and capabilities to solve it, including through extensive investments.
Hela expressed the corporation's pleasure in cooperating with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in an initiative to expand the outsourcing of information technology, positioning Jordan in the global digital economy by attracting international companies and investments, bridging the gap between talent and the market, and enhancing inclusive job creation, especially for youth, women, and vulnerable communities.
Hela mentioned that under the corporation's "CareArabia" initiative, she had the opportunity to meet women who own private childcare centers, along with partners from the Jordan Kuwait Bank, where the corporation closely studies the childcare sector in early childhood, understands the market, and explores how access to financing can help care providers grow and thrive.
Hela said: “I have just finished my sixth visit to Jordan, and each time, I am reminded not only of the potential of this country but also of the wonderful hospitality that distinguishes it”, expressing her gratitude for the energy, ideas, partnerships, and always warm Jordanian welcome, using the phrase “Whoever visits the home becomes one of its people”.
