Google released a series of important technical announcements during its annual developer conference "Google I/O 2025," held in Mountain View, California, confirming its direction towards deepening the use of artificial intelligence across its products and services.
Google introduced two new versions of the "Gemini" model, the first, "Gemini 2.5 Flash," which is characterized by response speed and cost efficiency, targeting institutions and developers who need lightweight performance without sacrificing reasoning capabilities and multimedia handling.
The second version, "Gemini 2.5 Pro," features enhanced capabilities to understand and deal with long contexts and generate code with higher accuracy.
Gemini Live Feature
The company also announced the development of the "Gemini Live" feature which now supports screen sharing and integration with cameras on iOS and Android operating systems, enhancing voice interaction and making the assistant more realistic in user interactions, including travel planning, problem-solving, and image generation.
AI Mode in Search Engine
Google also launched "AI Mode" in its search engine, a new option that allows users to interact with a built-in chat robot within the search page. This feature has begun to appear to users in the United States, as part of the company's efforts to maintain its competitive edge with the rise of tools like ChatGPT.
Smart Glasses Competing with Meta
Google also revealed new smart glasses being developed in collaboration with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, more than a decade after the "Google Glass" project, which includes a camera, microphone, and speakers, aiming to compete with Meta's glasses developed in partnership with Ray-Ban.
Cinematic Creations
In the media arena, Google announced the availability of the "Imagen 4" model for generating high-quality images and higher text response accuracy, available now in the Arab region. They also introduced the "Veo 3" model for video generation, which has capabilities for producing cinematic scenes including sound effects and lip-syncing.
Flow Platform
Among the most notable announcements was also the "Flow" platform, a paid artificial intelligence tool aimed at content creators, integrating the capabilities of Gemini, Veo, and Imagen, and allowing the production of high-quality visual content from text commands.
As for the "Google Beam" device, it represented a turning point in the field of remote communication, as it relies on an advanced set of sensors, cameras, and artificial intelligence to provide a realistic three-dimensional experience.
The device works on capturing live 3D models of people and streaming them in high quality over the Internet, with support for instant voice translation thanks to artificial intelligence, facilitating communication between parties who do not speak the same language.
In the field of education, Google announced updates including interactive tests generated through artificial intelligence, audio summaries of content, and integration with drawing and explaining tools that allow for the production of graphical diagrams through text commands. These features are available in several languages, including Arabic.
New Programming Assistant
The company also launched a new programming assistant named "Jules," capable of correcting programming errors and providing immediate feedback to developers without affecting workflow, currently available in the Middle East and North Africa.
In the extended reality sector, Google announced the "Android XR" platform in collaboration with Samsung and Qualcomm, which includes tools for developing mixed reality applications and enhancements to ARCore technologies and power management in smart devices.
Support for the Arabic Language
One of the highlights of the conference was the focus on localization, where Google provided many tools supported in Arabic, such as generating images from Arabic texts, audio and visual summaries of content, alongside tools for local developers.
