The Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, and the Director of Public Security, Major General Obeid Allah Al-Maaytah, visited on Thursday the Addiction Treatment Center managed by the Drug Enforcement Administration, where they were briefed on the efforts made in the field of medical, therapeutic, and social services provided by the center to all those desiring treatment from the ravages of drugs.
During the visit, Al-Faraya emphasized the importance of following the royal directives that necessitate the intensification of national efforts and enhancing cooperation between the relevant authorities to combat the scourge of drugs, limit their spread, and encourage and assist individuals who are addicted to overcome their addiction.
Al-Faraya praised the leading and social role undertaken by the Public Security Directorate in establishing a specialized center for addiction treatment, and providing advanced therapeutic and psychological services to addicts, in addition to follow-up and post care programs for those who received free treatment at the expense of Public Security, believing in the importance of such therapeutic clinics for drug addicts.
He expressed his appreciation for the systems and facilities housed by the center and the complete confidentiality that characterizes the treatment procedures, which contribute to encouraging individuals and their families to voluntarily come forward for treatment, without legal repercussions, which enhances the chances of recovery and reintegration into society anew.
For his part, Major General Obeid Allah Al-Maaytah confirmed that the Directorate continues its field, awareness, and therapeutic efforts, within the national strategy to combat drugs.
He pointed out that the Directorate works integratively with various institutions to provide the necessary support for the center, ensuring the continuity of its duties and services according to the highest international standards.
He mentioned that the Public Security Directorate continues with its social and humanitarian responsibilities and places as a top priority the establishment of two new addiction treatment centers in the northern and southern regions, in addition to special treatment centers within reform and rehabilitation centers such as the Birin Reform and Rehabilitation Center.
Minister Al-Faraya toured inside the treatment center and inspected its therapeutic, rehabilitation, and recreational facilities, and listened to a briefing presented by the Director of the Drug Enforcement Administration about the work mechanisms in the center, and the treatment and rehabilitation programs, and the stages an addict goes through until recovery, confirming that the center has provided its services to hundreds of cases, and contributed to improving the reality of many families.
