Khaberni - Acting Director General of the Public Corporation for Social Security, Dr. Jadallah Al-Khlaileh, stated that the Corporation has kept pace with all developments at the regional and global levels and has made significant strides in the field of social insurance and electronic services it provides to the insured and retirees.
This came during his reception of an official Palestinian delegation led by the Palestinian Minister of Labor, Einas Al-Attari, to learn about the Corporation's experience in social protection, insurance, and implemented programs.
Al-Khlaileh confirmed during his reception of the delegation the Corporation's full readiness to assist the Palestinian brethren in various aspects that would develop and improve the level of protection, benefits, services, procedures, and mechanisms related to retirement and social security. He added that the Corporation had previously communicated with the Palestinian Retirement Authority and informed them about its experiences in this field, continuing to enhance the partnership, its continuity, and to utilize insurance and technical expertise in their favor.
In her turn, the Palestinian Minister of Labor, Einas Al-Attari, emphasized that the relationship linking the State of Palestine and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is historical and fraternal, deeply rooted, and this is evident in the general similarities and adherence to the same institutional methods reflecting the convergence in cultural and organizational structure shared between the two fraternal peoples, paving the way for more effective cooperation in the field of social protection. She expressed her thanks to the Social Security Corporation for the support and training it had provided in the past under the previous partnership agreement between Social Security and the State of Palestine’s Pension Authority, hoping for continued cooperation under the memorandum of understanding signed with both the Jordanian and Palestinian Social Security Institutions to benefit from their rich experience in social insurance.
Al-Attari highlighted one of the major challenges facing the Palestinian labor market is the existence of more than half a million Palestinians suffering from unemployment, and a large number of workers leaving the labor market, especially under the current conditions. She expressed interest in knowing the appropriate timing for launching the Palestinian Social Security, as well as the phases and facilitating factors in marketing this launch, in addition to planning, execution, and follow-up mechanisms.
The director of the Actuarial Studies Department at the Corporation, Ahmad Obaid, presented a presentation that included the legislative development of the Corporation since its inception and the progression in expanding the social protection umbrella, highlighting the insurance benefits provided by the social security law, in addition to insurance statistics by the numbers, electronic services, challenges faced by the institution, and the solutions included in its currently active strategic plan to address these issues.
At the end of the meeting, an extensive discussion took place, answering all questions and inquiries raised by the participating delegation, which represents the stakeholders involved in the social protection system, including the Secretary-General of the General Union of Palestinian Workers, Shaher Saad, the President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Abdo Adris, the Secretary-General of the General Union of Palestinian Workers, Mahmoud Hawashin, the Technical Affairs Advisor to the Minister of Labor, Danah Ismail, along with assistants and directors of departments of the Social Security Corporation.
