Syrian Energy Minister Turkey to Start Supplying Syria with Gas in June

Khaberni - The Syrian Energy Minister, Mohammed Al-Bashir, said on Thursday that Turkey will begin supplying Syria with gas starting from next June.

The minister mentioned during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart that Syria suffers from a severe shortage of electricity, and that both countries are working on completing the gas pipeline that connects them.

The minister expects the electrical interconnection line with Turkey to be operational by the end of this year.

On his part, the Turkish Energy Minister, Alb Arslan Berqdar, said that Turkey will provide Syria with 1000 megawatts of electricity, and it will also supply it with two million cubic meters of gas daily.
