Tell me - Syrian star Abed Fahd broke his silence on Wednesday evening through an official post on his "Instagram" account, categorically denying some claims about him calling for the return of the Syrian regime, after his recent statements that resonated widely inside and outside Syria.
Abed Fahd responds to the controversy

Fahd wrote in a post he shared via "the story," clarifying: "The word 'return' I used was not a call for the return of the regime. This regime fled and left behind an oppressed people and a country ravaged by destruction. What I meant was a return to the Syria we knew as Syrians, to the national unity and communal dignity that always united us."

He also clarified that his talk was merely a stark warning about the danger of sectarianism threatening Syrian society, comparing its spread to "cancer," assuring that Syrians who lived for decades without sectarian divisions are not prepared today to accept this artificial split.

He added: "I am free, like free Syria, I was not affiliated with any authority neither before nor after liberation, and my artistic works testify to that."

He concluded his message by calling for a rejection of hasty judgments and focusing on peace as the only path towards a homeland that accommodates all its children.

The controversial statements by Abed Fahd

The controversy erupted after a television interview conducted by Abed Fahd, on the sidelines of the awards ceremony of the "May Chidiac" foundation in Dubai.

During the interview, Fahd spoke bitterly about the current situation in Syria, indicating that "all Syrians, of all spectrums, reject this reality," questioning, "Why does this happen? Who is responsible? And when will Syria return to what it was?"
